I don’t want to make this post long so I’ll stick to the point. We got an email asking about what review plugin do we use on this website and what’s our opinion about it?
We use the WP Reviews plugin on this site for quite some time now. Honestly and bluntly said, there’s nothing to complain about the plugin. Rich snippets show up properly, the plugin itself has great functionalities with great support and constant development.
However, there is one thing that bothers me. Since it is such a well-rounded plugin (some say it’s the best review plugin on the market) it is quite robust. This has a really negative effect on loading times when it comes to web hosting, but if we want to have a strong online presence we have to roll with the best, right?
So, is there something that can be done? Yes, of course, there is a solution for every problem (well, not really). Unfortunately I have bad news for those using shared hosting. If you are on shared hosting, sorry, but your loading times will suffer big time.
Maybe if you don’t have many reviews on that particular website, you will get away with it, but generally speaking, you will get hit.
What you can do is, upgrade to a VPS or maybe try shared SSD. If SSD doesn’t solve your problem, then VPS is a must. Or just use another review plugin.
I hope that answers your question.
